751,887. Stuffing - box substitutes. PATEL, G. G., and PATEL, R.G., [trading as NIGOS CORPORATION]. April 2, 1954 [April 23, 1953], No. 9767/54. Class 122(5) A seal for the rotating shaft A of an impeller, propeller or rotor comprises at least one rib K formed on the boss of the impeller &c. or on a collar on the shaft and adapted to bear and rotate within a groove L formed in a bush D for the shaft. In a centrifugal pump, Fig. 2, the collar B is pressed against the bush by a spring G. Alternatively, the collar may be extended to form a boss provided with a screw to lock the collar to the shaft and repace the spring G. In a modification, Fig. 4, the bush constitutes the hub of the impeller F.
