Abstract
566,126. Rotary engines. KEELAVITE CO., Ltd., and JOHNSON, E. H. June 10, 1943, No. 9342. [Class 110 (ii)] A rotary engine, pump or meter of the rotary abutment type has axial displacement means to vary the capacity of the working chamber. A driving shaft B is integral with a hub D<1> which has slots D<2> to provide for axial movement of the roots E<3> of the blades E<4>. The roots are wider than the blades, which extend across the annular working chamber C<1> formed by the face of the rotating ring D, the casing A, the circumferential wall C<3> and end face C<2> of the sliding part C. The blades E<4> are carried by a flange E<2> which is integral with a hollow shaft E<1>. An abutment G is mounted on a shaft parallel to the shaft B, gears H, H<1> coupling the shafts together. The abutment has recesses to allow passage of the blades and has sealing contact over an arc cut in the part C. A ring J surrounds the cylinder D closely so as to make a sealing fit with the outer circumferential surfaces of the blades. The ring has sealing contact J<1> with the casing A, and also with a plate K.
