Fixed-abutment type; balancing moving parts. -The piston of a gyratory piston type of rotary engine in which inner and outer working spaces are provided between the cylinder a and an inner ring b is connected to the driving eccentric g by a web f, which is exposed on both sides to the fluid pressure and so balanced against end thrust. The abutment i on which the piston slides is mounted in the casing by trunnions i and is formed with a tongue l extending into the slit in the piston web f beyond the inner fixed ring b of the casing.
