Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A hydraulic, or compressible-fluid motor has an inner rotor 5<SP>1</SP> on an eccentric fixed-pintle 7<SP>1</SP> and engaging with pairs of spring-loaded blocks 30, 30<SP>1</SP> lodged between fins 12<SP>1</SP> on an outer rotor 2<SP>1</SP>, which has guides 10 attached thereto and mating with a blade 9 secured to the inner rotor so that the rotors are compelled to revolve synchronously in the same direction. Working fluid ducts 6, 18 communicate sequentially with chambers between the fins. The mutual eccentricity of the rotors gives rise to a resultant torque in accordance with the direction of the hydraulic gradient. Each pair of blocks may be replaced by a single block, Figs.2 and 3 (not shown). The rotors may be coupled to each other by way of rotatable shaft that is integral with the inner rotor, the pintle being dispensed with Fig.4 (not shown). The flow of working fluid to and from the chambers may be controlled by a sleeve mounted on the pintle and secured to the outer rotor, Figs.5 and 6 (not shown). Alternatively, the flow is controlled by ducts in a bearing member for the inner rotor, Fig.9 (not shown). The motor may be adapted for use as a pump. In another embodiment, Figs.7 and 8 (not shown), the motor is modified for use as a fluid coupling (see Division F2).
