Abstract

1,255,799. Rotary positive-displacement machines. KRAUSS-MAFFEI AG. Dec.13, 1968 [Dec. 18, 1967], No.59437/68. Heading F1F. A pump, or motor, comprises a disc 25 having a spiral rib 23 thereon meshing with a similar rib 22 of opposite hand fixed to an immobile wall 24, which is parallel to the disc. A shaft 26 on the disc engages slidingly with a bore 27 formed eccentrically in a rotary shaft 28 furnished with a gear-wheel 31. A link 32 with universal joints at the ends thereof extends between the shaft 26 and a fixed housing-part 29 to prevent said disc revolving about its own axis. Thus orbital motion of the disc relative to the wall 24 is produced by, or effects, rotation of the shaft 28. The ribs are either in contact with each other along two axiallyorientated lines or in close proximity with each other along said lines so that two variable-volume pockets lie between the ribs, Figs.1a to 1k (not shown). Rotation of the shaft 28 causes working fluid to be pumped towards the axis of the disc. More than one rib may be provided on the disc and on the wall, Fig. 5 (not shown).
