[Class 110 (ii).] The piston drum a of a rotary engine or the like is packed against the casing periphery by means of an elastic sleeve l which is perforated at a number of points p to allow access of the working fluid on both surfaces thereof and is supported by sliding spring-pressed bars f shown retained in recesses in the casing by enlargements h; the sleeve is thus balanced over both the admission and discharge pressure areas. The sleeve' and packing-bars may instead be carried on the piston drum.
