Abstract
406,906. Rotarypumps. SOUTHERN,J., and WORTHINGTON - SIMPSON, Ltd., Queens House, Kingsway, London. July 1, 1933, No. 18750. [Class 110 (ii).] The sliding vanes 7 move in a slotted rotor 3, and each vane is provided with a pair of trunnions 8 supported in blocks 9 which are slidingly fitted in channel-shaped rings 10 rotated by the rotor 3. The rings 10 have peripheral clearances in their grooves 11, and each may be secured to one block 9 by rivets 13. Clearances 15, 7b, prevent the trapping of fluid being pumped, betweeen the blocks 9 or at the bottom of the vane slots. The casing is bored out at 3<a> on a radius struck from the centre of the rotor. The bore is slightly elliptical the portions 3b being flattened. In a second arrangement the blocks 9 are divided the two parts being pressed against the inner and outer walls of the channel by springs.
