Abstract

308,394. Hill, E. H. Jan. 12, 1928. Fixed-abutment type; adjusting parts for wear; materials, special; packing vanes and the like.-In a rotary air-compressor with a rotor 8, Fig. 2, having outwardly-sliding vanes 11, standards 14 are secured to the ends of the casing 12 and rotor by tie-bolts, the pressure being adjusted by a ring 17 screwing on the casing 12 at one or both ends. The rotor is secured to the spindle 9 by pins 10 projecting radially from the spindle and embedded in the rotor. The fixed abutment may be formed by an adjustable strip 20, Fig. 4, secured between flanges or lugs 21 on the casing 12 made from drawn tubing. The strip and vanes may be made of whalebone, fibre, or vulcanite which may be enclosed in a folder or between two strips of antifriction metal. The rotor or its surfaces may be made of antifriction metal. The compressor may be used with the spraying-device shown in Specification 303,278, [Class 69 (iii), Spray-producers &c.].
