Abstract

327,127. White, A. E., (Delco-Remy Corporation). Sept. 22, 1928. Divided on 327,108. Spray carburettors. - Fuel is delivered into a space in which only a static suction is maintained, the entering air not passing directly in contact with the fuel discharge orifices. Primary carburettors 100, 101, 102, Fig. 3 deliver rich mixture through conduits 112, 113, Fig. 1, to branches 12, 11, 13 of an air manifold 10 having an admission opening 17. The carburettors are formed in a block 90, Fig. 3, and each has a high-speed fuel orifice 98, Fig. 2, and a low-speed 99, these orifices receiving fuel from distributing channels 93, 94. Air is admitted to each carburettor through a bush 105, Fig. 3, which extends axially beyond both fuel orifices so as to prevent the air stream from flowing in contacts therewith. The fuel is discharged into the annular space between the bushing and the carburettor wall. The mixture is delivered to the throat of a Venturi 110 in each branch, and between each Venturi and the cylinders a throttle 125 is located. A tube 150 serves to equalize the pressure in the three branches. Specification 327,107 is referred to.
