Abstract

130,396. Brown & Barlow, and Brown, C. Feb. 14, 1918. Spray carburettors. - Fuel, before issuing through the spraying-orifices of a carburettor, is mixed with air which enters the fuel space in two counter-current streams. The main air passage a comprises a Venturi-shaped portion at the throat of which a. fuel tube b with spraying-orifices h is located diametrically across the passage. The tube is fed with fuel through a nipple c, between which and the tube b air is admitted through conduits d, e and a restricted orifice in a nipple f. In addition, a counter-current of air is admitted to the tube b through an adjustable nipple g. Pilot nozzles shown at i, j are in series with the nipple c. As a modification, the fuel tube may be in the form of a circumferential passage around the throat of the Venturi portion.
