Abstract

159,050. Taft, W. E. Dec. 2, 1919. Spray carburettors. -- A multiple-jet nozzle 2, Figs. 1 and 3, is formed with an annular chamber 7 which communicates w i t h the float chamber 1 by a valve 8, and from which leads a series of jets 4, 4<1>, each of which is in two or more portions of increasing diameters with sharp inwardlyprojecting edges 31, 32 between the portions and at the mouth of the jet, to atomize the fuel. A central air passage 26 may pass through the nozzle. An air-inlet pipe may also lead into the nozzle chamber 7, to aerate the fuel. Supplementary air is admitted to the mixing chamber 3 through holes 6 in a ring 5 connected to the throttle valve by adjustable - throw link mechanism.
