326,715. Drewry, J. S., and Shelvoke & Drewry, Ltd. May 31, 1929. Locking rotary elements by positive detents.- Counter-rotation of toothed gear trains, such as described in Specification 229,055, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.], is prevented by a toothed detent 1 normally held against a stop 7 by a spring-pressed plunger 8 and brought into engagement with a gearwheel 2, partly immersed in an oil-bath, by the action of a trip pawl 4. During normal rotation in the direction of the arrow, the pressure of the oil acting on the flat face of the pawl 4 holds it out of engagement, overcoming the action of the spring 6. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 229,055, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.].
