[Class 103 (i).] Reverse movement or movement from rest, preventing ; applied by springs.-In power-transmission mechanism, such as epicyclic gearing, in which the rotation of a member or members tending to decelerate and rotate reversely has to be arrested or checked, for example to establish a driving- connection, means are provided which are adapted to be actuated for the purpose of engaging with and positively locking or frictionally gripping the member or members, but are held in an inoperative position until about the instant of reversal, when they are permitted to engage with and lock or grip the member or members. The invention is described with reference to the variable-speed epicyclic gear forming the subject of Specification 347,092, in the abridgment of which a detailed description of the present invention appears. Specification 347,093 is referred to. The third and fourth Provisional Specifications contain also the additional subject-matter appearing respectively in the fourth and fifth Provisional Specifications accompanying Specification 347,092.
