Abstract

193,869. Le Bidolec, J. M. P. B. A. Feb. 25, 1922, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Motor power plant; driving and traxasmission mechanism.-A number of motors for aircraft or other purposes are coupled through a differential mechanism which permits relative velocities of the motors, and is provided with locking means whereby any one or any combination of the motors may be used for driving. For coupling two motors to a shaft 1, Figs. 1 and 2, a. disc 5 secured to the shaft carries planet pinions 4 engaging the teeth 2<2> of an annulus 2 and the teeth 3<2> of a member 3 mounted loosely on the shaft. The pinions of the two motors engage respectively the teeth 2<1> of the annulus 2 and the teeth 3<1> of the member 3. The member 3 may be locked, when required, to the shaft 1 by a sliding coupling 6. Fig. 3 shows a modification for three motors, the pinions of which engage respectively the teeth I, II, III. Two locking devices 14, 15 are provided for use when any one or two of the motors are declutched. A modification for four motors is also described.
