[Class 135] Actuating mechanism for moving a gas cock into both " on " and " off "positions by similar movement of a chain or the like 23 comprises a lever 9 which actuates the plug 4 through a spring-pressed plunger 16 on the lever engaging teeth 19, 20, 21, or 22 on a wheel 7 attached to the plug. The lever 9 works between stops 12 and 13 and rotates the plug through 90‹ at each downward movement of the chain 23, the return movement being effected by a spring 14, the plunger 16 moving over the periphery of the wheel 7, and reverse movement of the plug being prevented by a non-return device comprising a similar plunger and toothed wheel arrangement 27, 26 at the other end of the plug.
