[Class 75 (iii).] In an igniter in which a pivoted wick-cap carrier h is operated by depressing a spring- pressed lever c and carries a pawl i co-operating with a ratchet wheel e for rotating the friction wheel d during the opening movement, the lever c is formed with a bow-shaped arm, extending under the common axle f of the carrier h and wheel d and provided with internal teeth m in mesh with a toothed segment k on, or a pinion rigidly connected with, the carrier h. The ratchet wheel e is rigidly connected to a square bearing bush d<1>, on which the wheel d is mounted. A blade spring p, fixed at one end to the top plate a is formed with a protuberance adapted to engage between the teeth of the ratchet wheel so as to retard the opening movement until the pressure of the spring is overcome and thereby produce a sudden rapid operation. A spring-pressed pin or equivalent device may replace the spring p.
