Abstract
583,155. Pocket igniters. MOORE, H. E. Oct. 12, 1944, No. 19662. [Class 75 (iii)] In a pyrophoric lighter in which the operating mechanism is a removable unit comprising a base plate 4, Fig. 6, apertured at 8 to fit over the flint tube and a pair of integral side plates supporting a friction wheel pin 7, an extinguisher cap 12 is rotatable on an arm 11 about the pin 7 by means of a lever arms 13 either pivoted about a pin 6 and articulated to points forwardly of and below the pin 7 or mounted with slots 21, Fig. 9, engaged by a pin 22 and articulated to points forwardly of and above the pin 7. When the arm 11 is raised, inclined cam plates 19, Fig. 8 hold a small steel roller 17 in engagement with the friction wheel teeth to rotate the wheel, but when the arm is lowered, a leaf spring 20 yields to allow the roller to ride over the teeth.
