Abstract

567,284. Pocket igniters. GOSTKOWSKI, B. H. Jan. 26, 1944, No. 1453. Convention date, May 25, 1943. [Class 75 (iii)] A tube 2 carrying a flint 4 is mounted on the top plate of the fuel reservoir of a pocket lighter by a pivot 14 offset laterally from the axis of the tube, the flint being held in contact with the friction wheel 5 by a spring-pressed piston 6 through which extends a rod 10 having an operating knob 11 at its upper end. The lower end of the rod 10 engages a groove 13 in the reservoir top plate, the groove being bent at right angles or obtusely at its end 13b so that when the knob 11 is pushed back to compress the spring 8 the tube 2 is turned about its pivot 14 in the direction of the arrow 15 and the flint 4 can be removed or replaced. The axis of the tube 2 in the working position is advantageously arranged behind the axis of the wheel 5 in regard to the direction 16 in which sparks are to be projected.
