Abstract

577,416. Pyrophoric igniters. PHILLIPS, D. June 15, 1944, No. 11412. [Class 75 (iii)] A guided plunger or a lever 11 pivoted to the sides of the igniter casing bears on a cam surface 12a on a lever 12 connected by a link 13 to the wick cap 14. Depressions of the lever 11 turns the lever 12 against the resistance of a coiled spring 22 surrounding its pivot 23 and raises the cap 14 which operates a friction wheel 15 on the wick cap pivot 17 to produce sparks at a flint 18 for igniting the wick 20. A web 11b on the lever 11 engages the end 15a of the wick cap when the lighter is not in use.
