529,223. Frictional pocket igniters. SIEGEL, A. B. May 25, 1939, No. 15541. [Class 75 (iii)] In an igniter in which the friction-wheel 7 is operated by opening .movement of a pivoted wick-cap carrier 11 mounted on its pivot 9, the carrier is hinged at 15 to the upper end of an operating member 14 slidable longitudinally on the exterior of the casing 1. As shown, the member 14 consists of a flat strip having a thumb grip 16 and engaging guides 17 on the casing. A projection 18 on the strip extends through a slot 19 in the casing and is attached to a return spring 20. The casing is provided with an internal screw thread 2 for attachment to a pen, pencil &c. and with a pocket clip.
