Abstract

[Class 75 (iii)] A lever 6 pivoted at one end of the top plate 2 of the lighter and connected to the snuffer arm 10 through a slot-and-pin connection 8, 9 is operable against the resistance of a helical spring 13 to raise the snuffer arm and rotate the friction wheel 3 to produce sparks for igniting the wick 12. The friction wheel is preferably mounted eccentrically on its pivot pin 4 so that its pressure against the flint increases during its rotation, and engages the snuffer cap by a flat surface 15.
