Abstract

658,875. Cigarette lighters. FLORMAN, I. Feb. 21, 1949, No. 4734. [Class 75(iii)] In a cigarette lighter the flint wheel 50 is properly disposed relative to the flint tube-20 by the flint wheel 50 being mounted between ears 12 formed on a plate 10 having holes 11, 18 and 16 to align with the flint tube 20, with a thumb piece plunger 28 and with the wick tube 34, the arrangement being such that depression of thumb 32 raises a snuffer cap 36 and rotates the flint wheel 50. The thumb piece 32 has extensions 56 straddling the snuffer cap 36 and actuates the same by means of lugs 58 operating in slots 52. A disc 46 secured to a side wall of the snuffer 38 has a tongue 48 to rotate the flint wheel 50 in a clockwise direction. The plate 10, holes 14, 18, 11 and 16, and ears 12 are formed in one piece from plate by stamping. Specification 586,982 is referred to.
