Abstract
598,745. Pyrophoric lighters. COLLINS, J. H., and PEARLMAN, B. Sept. 7, 1945, No. 23154. [Class 75 (iii)] A snuffer arm 4 of a lighter is supported by two posts 8, 9, the post 9 having an openended slot 13, and the post 8 a V-shaped slot XYZ, the arm YZ of which is parallel to the slot 13 and the arm XY of which extends upwardly. The posts 8, 9 and a flint tube 7 may be made from a single sheet metal stamping adapted to be mounted on top of the lighter, and a spring 10 may'be disposed between the posts, a projection 14 being provided or the spring to engage the end o: the post 9. The snuffer arrr may be mounted by inserting one of two coaxial lugs 6 ir the slot at X and pressing against the action of the spring 10 till the lug 6 reaches the point Y when the other lug enters the slot 13, and both lugs are forced by the spring upwardly along the slots 13, YZ.
