[Class 75(iii)] In a lighter having a wick cap 10, Fig. 1, and a flint wheel 14, Fig. 2, which is carried on a rotatable shaft 25 with an operating wheel 27, the wick-cap being carried on a sleeve 30 co-axial with the flint wheel shaft and rotatable thereon, the operating wheel 27 comprises a tubular portion surrounding the sleeve 30 and is adapted to engage frictionally with it when pressure is applied to the operating wheel. The operating wheel 27 may fit on a squared portion 24 of the shaft to rotate it when actuated, and may frictionally engage a flat portion 26 of the sleeve 30 to rotate the sleeve and lift the wick cap when the wheel is actuated, the connection between the wheel 27 and the sleeve 30 being however sufficiently loose to allow further rotation of the wheel when the wick cap has been raised to produce further sparking if necessary. A flat portion of the sleeve 30 may be engaged by a spring pressed plunger 33 to prevent unintentional actuation of the lighter.
