Abstract

311,975. Douglass, L. F. June 29, 1928. Pocket igniters, frictional.-The flint 11 is arranged with its axis to one side of the centre of the friction - wheel 8, which is mounted loosely on its bearing 7 so that the pressure between the wheel and flint may be varied during operation by the user. The flint is supported by a spring 10 resting on a disc 5 which may be screwed upwardly or downwardly in the tube 4 by rotating a member 12 provided with pronged parts 14 extending on either side of the disc. The wheel 8 is provided with an operating arm 19 and with an arm 20 carrying a wick-cap 21, adapted to contract a bevelled split ring 17 so as to prevent evaporation of the fuel.
