Pocket igniters, frictional.-In a pocket igniter in which the friction-wheel c is operated by a lever i pivoted to a bracket g rotatable about the shaft f of the wheel, the lever i is disposed tangentially with respect to the wheel so that the free end of the lever has to be subjected to a vertical pressure only in order to operate the wheel. The rotation of the bracket g is limited by extensions h of the support d, the bracket being held in, and returned to the normal position of substantial alignment with the flint holder, by a spring m. The hole in the wheel is preferably larger than the diameter of the shaft f in order to facilitate the operation by the lever i. The operative face of the lever i in engagement with the friction wheel may be convex instead of concave.
