767.250. Pyrophoric lighters. RONSON CORPORATION. Feb. 14, 1955 [Aug. 10, 1954], No. 4317/55. Class 75(3) In a pyrophoric lighter the depressible spark-wheel actating member which at the time of depression also raises the closure cap from the burner is depressed by the overlying depressible arm of a lever pivotally mounted adjacent the wheel and preferably on the wheel spindle. As shown, a depressible lever arm 26 has a pair of extending spaced ears pivoted on the spindle 18 of the spark wheel 20 and overlies the spring returnable depressible wheel actuating member 15, the intermediate portion 32 of the lever arm engaging the upper surface of the member 15. On depressing the lever arm 26, the member 15 is depressed thereby, through rack and pinion mechanism 16, 17 to raise the burner closure cap 14 pivoted on the spindle 18 between the ears, a pawl 33 carried by cap 14 engaging teeth on the side of spark wheel 20 rotating this latter for action with the spring pressed flint 21 to produce sparks.
