Abstract

622,717. Frictional igniters. LOWENTHAL, B. April 1, 1947, No. 8870. [Class 75(iii)] A frictional lighter, of the type wherein depression of a thumb piece raises a pivoted cover and rotates the friction wheel, is characterised in that the thumb piece 19 pivoted at 18 to the casing 1 is operatively connected to a lever 20, one end of which is pivoted at 21 to the casing, the other end being pivotally connected to the cover 15 by a link 25, manual closure of the cover being necessary after operation of the lighter whereupon the thumb piece returns to its initial position. Preferably the thumb piece 19 and lever 20 are connected by a spring 22, one end of which engages a recess in the thumb piece, the other end engaging a conical projection 23 on a number pivoted at 24 to the lever 20.
