Abstract

651,309. Frictional igniters. LEVER, J. June 1, 1948, No. 14813. [Class 75(iii)] A friction lighter has two depressible plungers 8, one of which, attached to arm 6 of a lever member 5 pivoted about pin 4, when depressed raises the other plunger 8 to the operative position and moves a pair of links 10, attached to arm 7 of lever member 5 at one end and at the other to a pair of arms 11, to raise a wick cap 12 which rotates a friction wheel 17 to ignite the lighter. The lighter is extinguished by depressing the plunger 8 previously raised to the operative position. A pair of coiled springs 13, attached to the lever member 5 and pegs 14 maintain the wick cap 12 in the open and closed positions. Plungers 8 may be of different colours.
