Abstract
593,766. Pocket igniters. LOWEN. THAL, B. June 11, 1945, No. 14760. [Class 75 (iii)] In a pyrophoric lighter, the filling opening 4 of the fuel reservoir 1 is closed by two movable members which remain permanently attached to the lighter both in its open and closed positions. The opening 4 may be closed on its inside by a plug 8, Fig. 3, held by a leaf spring 15, and on the outside by a slide 10 provided with two indentations into one or other of which a spring- pressed ball 12 snaps to hold the slide in its open or closed position. The slide may be replaced by a pivoted cover as in Fig. 4, where the cover 16 may be opened with snap action and a plate 6 moved into its open position by a spring 9 to remove the plug 8 and allow access to the filling opening 4. When the cover is closed a spring 11 presses on the plate 6 to hold the plug securely in the opening 4. A slide may be provided instead of the cover 16, if desired.
