611,777. Frictional lighters. GUILLON, A. May 8, 1946. Nos. 13874 and 13875. Convention dates, June 27, 1945, and May 3, 1946. [Class 75 (iii)] In a manuallyoperated frictional lighter a member 15 containing a housing 16 for the flint 19 and flint spring 18 and a housing 17 for spare flints is pivoted on the spindle 14 of the friction wheel 13 so that it can be swung outwards from a stop member 22 to expose the screws 20, 21 closing the housings 15, 16. A hinged cover 5, having a wick snuffer 25, is held in the closed or open position by a spring pressed plunger 10 engaging a twofaced cam 11, 12 on the cover 5. The filling plug is formed with a screwdriver end 24. In a modification, Figs. 6, 9, a push button 31, slidable on the outside of the member 15, extends through a narrow channel 30 in the member 15 to connect with a spring pressed flint piston 39. A new flint can be inserted through an aperture 29 in the member 15 when the flint piston 39 is held in a retracted position by the engagement of a spring trigger 34 on the push button 31 with a notch 41 in the member 15.
