Abstract

354,076. Frictional pocket igniters. KELLERMANN, GES., Dr. H., 6, Ruschestrasse, Lichtenberg, Berlin. Sept. 1, 1930, No. 26012. Convention date, Sept. 2, 1929. [Class 75 (iii).] In an igniter in which the friction-wheel 6 and a wick-cap carrier 4 are mounted on a common pivot 5 and coupled together for simultaneous operation during an opening movement, a link 8, Figs. 1 and 3, or 25, 29, Fig. 5, acted upon by a spring 15, or 35, is pivoted to the carrier at a point 9 located normally between parallel vertical planes passing through the wick-tube 2 and pivot 5 so that, on operating the carrier by means of a lever 11 or thumb piece 20, the opening movement is rapidly completed by the spring independently of the pressure of the finger when the point 9 has been moved past the dead-centre directly above the pivot 5. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the spring 15 is housed in a sleeve 13, pivoted at 14 to the link 8 and slotted at 17 to engage an abutment pin 16 in the lever 11. The link 8 is pivoted at 10 to the lever, which is provided with a hook 19 engaging a pivot pin 18 in the casing 1. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the abutment pin 16 is mounted in the casing 1 and is engaged by the hooked end of an arm 21 pivoted to the link 8. In the form shown in Fig. 5, one member 25 of the link is slotted at 27 to engage a pin 28 in the lever 11 and the other member 29 is pivoted at 30 to one part 31 of a divided sleeve, the other part 33 of which is pivoted at 34 to the lever. The spring 35 is housed in the sleeve and a stronger spring 38, arranged around the sleeve between the bottom of a well 39 and abutments 40, 41, is adapted to return the parts to the normal position on release of the lever 11. The pivot 5 consists of a removable screw or double screw.
