Abstract

546,204. Pyrophoric lighters. PARKER PIPE CO., Ltd., and RICHARDS, P. S. Dec. 31, 1940, No. 18249. [Class 75 (iii)] An arm 7 mounted in pivots 8 in the casing of a pyrophoric lighter carries a wick cover 6 and a pivoted lever 14 which slides in a crank 15 pivoted to the lighter casing at 15a. Pressure on a push button 19 slidable in the lighter casing turns the crank 15 and compresses a spring 16 between the crank and the lever till a deadcentre position is passed, when the arm 7 is turned rapidly by the spring to raise the cover 6 and to operate through a slotted link 9 and a one-way clutch 11 an abrasive wheel 5 engaging a flint 4.
