Abstract
339,506. Schultes, P. July 4, 1929, [Convention date]. Roller blinds.-A spring roller for a window blind, route indicator, &c. is provided with a clutch arrangement to hold the roller spring in its stressed condition while the roller is being placed in position. In the construction shown, the roller shaft a is journaled in holes in an end cap e and internal discs h, l all secured to the roller. the roller spring i being attached at one end k to the disc and at the other end s to the shaft a, which has a square end n for non-rotatable connection with the end bracket p. A clutch member f with ratchet-teeth f<1> is fixed on the shaft between the end cap e and the disc h, a spring g being arranged between the member f and the disc h to press the ratchet teeth f<1> into engagement with corresponding teeth e<1> on the end cap e to prevent relative rotation of the shaft and roller when the shaft has been rotated by a key, before placing the roller in position, to stress the spring i. The distance between the end brackets p, p<1> is such that when the roller is supported thereby the shaft a is pressed inwards to disengage the ratchet-teeth f<1>, e<1> and allow the spring roller to function in the usual manner. The end k of the spring i may be fixed to a slidable non-rotatable sleeve instead of the disc l.
