Abstract

325,691. Platt Bros. & Co., Ltd., and Jenkinson, T. Feb. 16, 1929. Carding-engines.-To drive the main cylinder in the reverse direction a detachable adjustable gear transmits power from the loose to the fast pulley. Discs g<2>, g<5> which may be of hard wearing metal or may be surfaced, engage grooved pulleys or rims b<*>, b<1*> fitted to the fast and loose pulleys. Two gear wheels meshing together are enclosed in a gear casing e, one wheel being on the shaft of each disc. The gear casing e, Fig. 5, is mounted with adjustment about a vertical axis by slots and bolts e<4> and with adjustment towards and from the fast and loose pulleys b, b<1> Fig. 4, by the hand wheel d<3> which causes the assembly to slide in grooves c<1> in a bracket c fixed to the card frame, a ratchet f preventing movement backwards. Ball or other bearings, may be used and provision is made for lubrication.
