Abstract
462,039. Expanding pulley gearing. SUNDSTROM, E. F. May 20, 1935, No. 14733. Void. Convention date, May 29, 1934. [Class 80 (ii)] A multiple-rope variable-speed drive comprises multiple driving and driven pulleys operable in unison. Of a driving pulley 6, the right-hand flanges 5, 5<1>, 52, 53 are rigidly connected together by bolts 8, and are fast on a shaft 1. The lefthand flanges 4, 41, 42, 4<3> are connected together and to a striker disc 6<1> by bolts 7 so that the four pulleys shown are operated together as the disc slides. A similar multiple driven pulley 16 is controlled by a disc 16<1> and the discs 61, 161 are operated in unison when a wayshaft 10 is turned from a hand wheel 12. Springs may be provided at 18 to balance the wedging action of the ropes 3.
