Abstract

293,097. Waldram, H. D. T. March 28, 1927. Tipping-apparatus.-Hoisting-apparatus for tilting a railway wagon 41 or other container on the platform 36 of tipping-apparatus, comprises a crank or equivalent 24 rotating always in the same direction and actuating a cable 32 passing over a fixed pulley or over pulleys to the load. As shown, the crank disc 24 is rotated by worm-gearing from an electric motor 20. The cable 32, Fig. 1, anchored at 33, passes over pulleys 27, 31, 26, 30, and is secured to the end of the tipping- platform 36. The wagon 41 is held by removable stops 40. In a modification, not shown, the cable passes from the platform over a sheave to a crank pin adjustable radially in the crank disc by screw. and-nut gear. As shown in Fig. 4, the cable 32 is anchored on a sheave 53 which may be at any one of a number of positions 25 at different radial distances, and a turnbuckle 52 is provided for adjusting the length. In other modifications, the cable passes around a sheave or sheaves on a crank-pin so as to give additional purchase. In one such arrangement, Fig. 8, the crank pin 25 is mounted in spherical bearings 61 in two crank discs 60 driven from the motor 20, and the hoisting cable passes from the platform over sheaves 30, 26, 31, 27 to an achorage 33.
