Abstract
228,548. B³ttner, M. Jan. 28, 1924, [Convention date]. Reversing gearing; variable-speed gearing.- Reducing gearing comprises a ring of pivoted rollers i, Figs. 3 and 4, to which a circular wabbling parallel motion is imparted by which means it is able to engage, and drive an outer ring of rollers k concentric with the gear axis. The driving rollers i are supported in a member c which rides on roller bearings a, Fig. 2, upon an eccentric or pair of eccentrics b secured to the driving- shaft. Bolts f, Fig. 1, project from the member c through circular apertures g in a central disc e. A floating ring m supports the gearing rollers internally. One form of the invention comprises a reducing-gear inside a casing to which the disc e is fixed, the member c being thus restrained from angular movement. In the arrangement of Fig. 4, the disc e may be held fast, or allowed to slip, whereby the carrier d of the rollers k is driven at variable speeds. If the carrier d is held by a brake, the disc e is driven reversely. In a modification, the ring of driven rollers is arranged within the ring of wabbling driving rollers.
