Abstract

322,911. Yarrow, H. E. Dec. 28, 1928. Fuel, feeding.-In a boiler furnace, apparatus for drying and pulverizing the fuel is closely associated with the boiler so as to be substantially a part of the furnace structure. Fig. 1 shows the apparatus applied to a Yarrow boiler the dryer F and pulverizer G being of the revolving drum pattern driven by a motor I which also drives a fan J for feeding the fuel to the burner K. The dryer and pulverizer are arranged in the path of the furnace gases on one side of the steam drum but the dryer may be arranged on one side and the pulverizer on the other. Dampers control the passage of the gases which may be byepassed. The dryer and pulverizer drums may be provided with vanes to increase the heating effect and furnace gases or air or both gases and air may be led through the dryer and pulverizer.
