455,985. Boiler &c. furnaces. VANDEVELDE, A., 25, Avenue Jacques Sermon, Brussels. May 1, 1935, No. 13039. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1934. [Class 51 (i)] In a forced-draught solid-fuel furnace having above an imperforate fuel supporting surface one or more air supply nozzles 2 not extending the whole length of the firebox and each having its sides and at least one end exposed, the outer casing 1 of the furnace is provided with one or more doors 6 located either opposite the exposed end face or opposite each of the side faces of the nozzle or nozzles so that clinker which forms on the air outlet portions of the nozzle or nozzles may be readily removed. One or more of the sides of the casing in which a door or doors are not provided may have openings 11 adapted to be connected to a boiler (not shown), any openings 11 not so connected being closed as by a plate 12. A connecting member 13 with its end faces at an angle may be used. Combustion air is supplied by a blower 4 which may be mounted on a side of the casing not containing a door or connecting opening.
