Doors, door frames, and furnace fronts. - In furnace fronts having provision for the supply of air below the firebars, interior deflectors F are provided integral with the dead-plate F for deflecting part of the air supply into baffled spaces B, B' on the door frame A and door D respectively, these spaces having discharge openings of Venturi form above and in front of the fire-bars. Air under pressure is supplied through a duct C and regulated by a damper E, a steam nozzle H being provided when it is necessary to create a draught or break up clinker. The brick arch G may be replaced by a cast-iron baffled chamber with air openings. Vanes may be fitted in the air discharge openings to impart vortex motion to the air.
