Abstract

Fuel supports; refuse-consuming furnaces.- The floor of a furnace 1 is formed by a series of plates 7 forming when closed together a solid fuel-supporting surface and mounted so as to be capable of individual angular adjustment to admit air currents into the fuel. Each plate is pivoted at 12 and has a notched arm 8 pivoted to it at 11 and engaging fixed rods 13. Fuel is supplied to the hopper 5 and regulated by a sliding door 4, the hopper being closed by a cover 6. The furnace is adapted for burning coal or refuse fuel.
