Abstract

318,859. Lemaitre, G. A. Sept. 10, 1928, [Convention date]. Tappet-actuated pumps; stroke, varying.-In a Diesel engine with the cylinders 1 parallel to the main shaft 14, each cylinder has its own fuel pump arranged with its inlet and delivery valve 42, 43 in line with the injection nozzle 47. The pump plunger 41 is connected by a quick pitch screw thread to a head 51, which is struck by a roll 48 on a spindle 6 carried by the piston. The position of the head 51 on the plunger is adjustable by a rack 53 to enable the stroke of the pump to be varied. All the racks 53 are connected together and worked off one control.
