Abstract

316,987. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Aug. 7, 1928, [Convention date]. Proofing against vermin; proofing, compositions. -Complex borofluoro organic acids and salts thereof are prepared by the interaction of hydrofluoric acid, boric acid and any desired organic acid, the two latter compounds being employed either as such or in the, form of a compound. The hydrofluoric acid may be added to a mixture of boric acid and an organic acid, or boric acid is dissolved in hydrofluoric acid and an organic acid is added, or hydrofluoric acid is caused to react on baroacetic anhydride. Organic acids which may be used are acetic acid, formic acid, benzole acid and the like. In an example boric acid is stirred into glacial acetic acid and aqueous hydrofluoric acid is added with cooling, giving boro trifluoro acetic acid which has the protective action against textile pests described in Specification 298,538.
