Abstract
An aqueous rubber dispersion such as natural rubber latex has a non-ionogenic surface active agent incorporated therewith prior to having its pH lowered to a value between 5 and 7 by addition of an acid, e.g. sulphuric, hydrochloric, formic, acetic or boric acid. The amount of agent used is from 0.5 to 5 per cent by weight of the solids content of the dispersion. The dispersion is then concentrated by, e.g. evaporation or centrifuging. The agent may be a condensation product of polyethylene glycol with a long chain carboxylic acid, alcohol, organic amine, organic amide or an alkyl phenol.
