Abstract

The carrotting of animal fibres is effected with an aqueous solution containing 3 to 5 per cent by weight of a non-hydrolysing oxidizing agent, e.g. hydrogen peroxide, 1 to 4.5 per cent by weight of a hydrolysing acid, e.g. nitric, hydrochloric, sulphuric or a mixture of nitric with hydrochloric or phosphoric acid, and in addition, 0.1 to 0.4 per cent by weight of phosphotungstic and/or phosphomolybdic acid. An organic solvent, e.g. ethyl alcohol, may also be incorporated. Specification 524,736, [Group VIII], is referred to.
