Abstract
A stable catalase product comprises an aqueous solution of catalase and sodium citrate, with or without glycerol and/or thymol. Suitable amounts, based on weight of solution, are sodium citrate 1-5 per cent, glycerol 15-25 per cent and thymol 0.5-2 per cent. The mixture is preferably left to stand for 1-4 weeks at not above 30 DEG C., e.g. around 2 DEG C. The components may be mixed together or else the stabilizer(s) may be contained in the water used to extract the active principle from crude catalase. Examples are given of suitable compositions.
