Abstract

An adrenocorticotrophin preparation for parenteral administration of enhanced stability comprises an aqueous solution having a pH from 5.5-7.5 of ACTH in combination with gelatine and an organic reducing agent containing at least one sulphydryl group such as, preferably cysteine, or beta-mercapto-ethanol or thioglycollic acid. The pH may be obtained by the addition of agents such as sodium hydroxide or trisodium phosphate. A specially desirable pH is from 6.5 to 7.0. The concentration of the organic reducing agent may be from 0.025 to 0.2 per cent (weight/volume) with a concentration of 0.1 per cent specially desirable. Specification 725,421 is referred to.
