1,217,135. Daunomycin derivatives. SOC. FARMACEUTICI ITALIA. 22 April, 1969 [24 April, 1968], No. 20406/69. Addition to 1,003,383. Heading C2A. Daunomycin semicarbazones and thiosemicarbazones having the Formula I wherein R is O or S arid R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl are prepared by reacting daunomycin with the appropriate semicarbazide, preferably in aqueous solution at pH 7À0-8À5, and separating the required semicarbazone. Pharmaceutical compositions having antitumoral activity comprise daunomycin semicarbazone or thiosemicarbazone of Formula I above together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent.
