Abstract
1360032 2 - Thio - 5 - aza - cytosine and its derivatives SCHERING AG 23 June 1971 [23 June 1970] 29427/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises novel 2-thio-5-azacytosine and nucleosides (I) thereof where Z is a protected sugar group; the compounds are made by reacting guanidyl thiourea with a trialkyl orthoformate and thereafter reacting the 2-thio-5-aza-cytosine so obtained sequentially with a silylating agent and then with a 1-0-acyl, 1-0-alkyl or 1-halogeno derivative of a protected sugar to form (I). Pharmaceutical preparations showing cytotoxic, antiviral, enzyme-inhibiting and antipsoriatic properties contain (I) as active ingredient ; administration may be locally.
